"Who are You ? Your Personal Identity" In understanding whom you are and the identity of whom you may have been in past lives, Reb Chaim Vital explains that one first needs to inspect whether or not ones "Soul - Neshoma" is actually within your physical existence. Only if one has ones "Soul-Neshoma" attached to ones physical existence then one has individuality and identity. However, if one has been so influenced by everything and everyone, then more-than-likely one is void of ones Neshoma Soul and only has ones Nefesh Soul. If that is the case then one is simply a mixed-up package made up of the total sum of ones experiences in ones life, all the influences that have overlapped and smothered ones inner true identity, which act to push away ones "Soul-Neshoma" individuality. At this point or at any point in ones life when one feels one has "lost" ones identity a person needs to "wake up" and stop being influenced to be someone else or live someone else's life. Most of the influences that have been allowed unwittingly into ones life occur through a continual interaction with everything and everyone in ones life. This negative and positive interaction is known as "Transference". We continue to be made up of a total sum of all our experiences and influences from others until we say NO MORE ! Only when we STOP allowing everything and anything to affect our lives, and when we cancel out all of "other peoples transference" of their opinions and desires on our mind and thoughts, then and only then will we be able to live the life we were destined to live, and our true identity of our "Soul-Neshoma" will reside within ourselves. Finding Out Whom You Really Are ? In finding out whom you really are, one needs to reflect honestly on one's life; Have you done anything special and unique that ONLY YOU could have done ? Or have you just "copied" someone else's identity? Done something that others have done or could have done? Or have you done "nothing" special with your life that has identified you as being unique and different from other people? It is ONLY the unique aspects that ONLY you could have done with your life that no-one else can do that identifies whom you really are. For example, if one works during the day, in a mundane job that anyone could do, without any personality or making any difference to anyone's life by your charisma or personality, and then one sits and watches TV all evening then one is totally missing out on life, ones Soul-Neshoma identity is fast asleep and not active in this life (yet). However, if one works and infuses and happy attitude into peoples lives as you connect with them in your work, that only you can do, to the extent that when you take a day off work, people actually miss your presence, and in the evenings one is helping others in a way that only you can help, then one is living an individual life. One has inner identity of ones Soul - Neshoma. Reb Chaim Vital that when one starts to live in full spiritual awareness with the fullness of ones mind, thoughts and Soul-Neshoma, and as one corrects all the aspects of reincarnation, then as one has passed the lessons of life, and elevated ones soul, it will be revealed to you, your inner identity of whom you were from a past life. However, it will ONLY be revealed when it is right for you to know. Unveiling the Truth of Your Identity of a Past Life ? הראני נא את כבדך וראית את אחרי ופני לא יראו... שמות פרק לג פסוק יח Shmos Exodus Chapter 33 Verse 18 & 23 The Torah explains that Moses asked GOD, "Please GOD show me your ways and reasons why You do things?" GOD answered that "you can see me and my ways in hindsight, but never when confronted with a situation". Our souls are born into this physical life in order to learn, develop and change. The lessons are needed to learn a belief in GOD, trust in GOD and a belief in a DIVINE spiritual world of souls and a rectification of reincarnation are unique for every person. The lessons need to be learnt through challenges of life, only through intense and emotional challenges do we learn to develop our mind and soul. These lessons cannot be taught from books, they are emotional "life experiences" that we all need to learn and experience within our own unique minds and souls. The Spiritual guarantee from GOD, is that we will always see the DIVINE intervention in our lives, after the event - in hindsight. The lesson of life is - to TRUST in GOD - especially when we go through difficulties and remain reticent, (reticent means keep "shtum" - quiet, don't use any "complaining" words as the least said in difficult situations the better!) and believe that everything is going to be alright. "Trust in GOD, do good deeds and everything will turn out for the good". Once a person has experienced the lessons of life, elevated oneself spiritually becoming enlightened then one will be given the spiritual knowledge of the identity of ones soul. Our Past life is Engrained On Our Soul Reb Chaim Vital writes that everything from our past life/lives is deeply engrained within our soul, all the memories, names and places, even the words we expressed in past lives are deeply engrained within our soul. By cleansing ones soul from all negative influences, by healing all the keys of reincarnation then one will be able to see, know and sense ones true identity clearly. Reb Chaim Vital explains that all reincarnated souls from an early age have specific memories of keywords and places that are very strong within ones soul. These words, in whatever language, keep surfacing until the moment when in this life one connects with the past-life experience or place. These references act as signposts along ones life. Nonetheless Reb Chaim Vital warns that some people misunderstand some words, for example if they lived at the of King David and Bathsheva or Kind Solomon and Queen of Sheeba (likewise in our generation the names of Princess Diana and Winston Churchill are embedded in most peoples soul), then a person may have these names very strongly embedded in their souls because they were the most famous and talked about characters of that generation, but it DOES NOT mean that the person was one of these famous people. Hence when people try to regress into past-life, Reb Chaim Vital explains that all the words they come up with are words they used in that lifetime; as it is today, very few people actually say the words of their own name everyday, hence one should be careful when uncovering the past-life, and be careful not to be deceived by ones own imagination. Uncovering the Secrets of Ones Past Life Reb Chaim Vital guarantees in his book Sefer Gilgulim, that once a person has successfully elevated ones soul to be spiritually enlightened then one will be informed of all the secrets of ones past life. Hence, people like Reb Chaim Vital in Sefer Gilgulim were and are able to see and know the identity of everyone's soul; Sefer Gilgulim and Shaar Gilgulim gives many fully explained examples of reincarnated souls, even the identity of reincarnated souls of birds, fish, cats and dogs, animals and of plants, trees and leaves.
